Marina Gaviota Varadero

Located 140 eastward from Havana City, Varadero is Cuba´s most important tourist resort and one of the best known tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

Visitors can enjoy every modern tourist services, such as very exclusive hotels, restaurants, ball halls, discotheques, and a wide variety of other options with catamaran, motor boat, diving and sports fishing excursions. Varadero´s location also allows for one day trips to Havana City, Trinidad or Santa Clara.

Differing from other Caribbean tourist destinations, Varadero has a population of merely about 6000 inhabitants, mainly devoted to fishing. At present, the main economic activity is centered on tourism, cuisine services and craftsmanship.

Varadero beaches delight all visitors with their fine white sands and crystalline sea waters. A very few miles off the shoreline, you can find the first keys and coral reefs, in which typically Caribbean flora and fauna is much abundant.

Ambrosio´s Cave with its aboriginal paintings, the Golf Course and Las Palmeras and Melia Las Americas hotels are also among the main attractions.

One of the best options for sight-seeing the whole Hicacos Peninsula, where Varadero is located is to take the double- decker GUA-GUA (Cuban Spanish for Autocar or bus) only by the price of 5 CUC. The autocar will provide you with a whole tour around the peninsula, with the additional option of getting off and walking on foot at your will, with the renewed possibility of taking the autocar again, without any additional payment, provided that you only keep your traveling ticket from 9:oo a.m. to 9:oo p.m. within the same day.
